About the Course:

The goal of this class is to give beginners a strong foundation in creative writing essentials, building their confidence and skill set.

What You’ll Take Away:

– Break down storytelling basics, including plot structure, the hero’s journey, and setting.

– Enhance your storytelling with exercises on description and sensory details.

– Practice writing dialogue that sounds natural and reveals character.

– Learn techniques for finding inspiration, using prompts, and exploring personal themes.

– Understand the elements of storytelling, such as character, setting, conflict, and plot structure.

– Explore different prompts through guided freewriting exercises.

– Use handouts for both in-class and take-home practice.

– Develop your unique voice and style.

– Create vivid scenes and believable dialogue with actionable tips.

What to Bring:

Participants should bring either a notebook or laptop, whichever is more comfortable for them.

About the Instructor:

K.T. Anglehart is an award-winning author from Montreal with a background in journalism, scriptwriting, and creative writing. Inspired by her travels through Ireland and Scotland, she created The Scottish Scrolls trilogy, a YA urban fantasy series that celebrates nature, folklore, and both modern and Neolithic history. When she’s not writing, K.T. enjoys hiking, thrifting, and binge-watching Netflix in her Ontario home with her husband, rescue mutt Nessie, and two whimsical bunnies, Onyx and Stirling.
