Cyanotype is an ancient photographic process that uses sunlight to create strikingly beautiful prints in blue tones, known as “Prussian blues.” In this workshop, students will learn all the stages of taking a “sun photograph”, including:
– Preparation of the chemical solution
– Design or preparation of the negative
– Exposure to sunlight
– Development
– Drying and observation
Each student will produce six unique, postcard-sized prints on watercolour paper – making a delightful series to display at home, or special gifts for loved ones!
A Note to Students:
– Please bring an apron to protect your clothing during this workshop or wear older clothing.
– The instructor will have extra kits of the chemical solution available for you to purchase if you wish to continue exploring this craft at home: each extra kit costs $20 (bring on the day of the workshop, if interested).
