Wendy A. Thomas

Wendy A. Thomas has a B.A. (Honours, Visual Arts) and an M.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies from York University in Toronto, Ontario. She has studied at the Visual Arts Centre in Westmount, Quebec, and is a professional member of the Regroupement des artistes en arts visuels (RAAV).
In her semi-abstract acrylic paintings, Thomas is inspired by years of photographing her urban environment. Thomas sees potential beauty in neglected elements we see daily: scratches, repairs, and dents on concrete support walls, and gravel-strewn sidewalks. In her aerial paintings, views of fields create ambiguity of perception and offer an alternative to traditional landscape painting.
