Edwina Billyk

Art has always fascinated Edwina Billyk: that you could sit down and make a drawing of an airplane flying through clouds or that you could rub soft bricks together to make a dog or a fake grenade astonished her. Over many years of experimenting, she has used paint, pen and ink, chalk, clay, wood, and stone to create drawings, paintings, clay figures, and stone and wood carvings. Her subjects include the natural environment – trees, clouds, and landscapes but also creatures and imaginary places that arrive spontaneously in her sketchbooks. For Edwina, it is a playful universe.
