Each artist has been chosen for this show because their artwork really reflects their interests and concerns as women. They each bring several works from their studios as well as a new work made specially for this exhibition:

For the new work, they have been asked to find a text that they consider important to women and take a sentence or two that they really react to - either negatively or positively.

It could be a line from a novel by Margaret Atwood or from an essay by Germaine Greer. It could be a line from a song or a speech. It could come from any source they like as long it is a short text and they react to it strongly.

They are going to make an artwork using this text as a starting point and these works will be shown with the texts nearby, with our goal being to look at the struggles of the past and reflect on where women are at in 2009.

It will be a thought-provoking and interesting exhibition!
