Maria-Hélèna is a multipassionate artist. She completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts at Concordia, specializing in photography and pursued a Master's in Women's Studies focusing on feminist political theatre. As a singer-songwriter her focus is on natural landscapes and the human condition in relation to the land. Her first album Stories the land will tell was released in 2016. She has recently written and produced her first stage production Ultraviolet Life in the 2018 Ottawa Fringe Festival. Her current work as a visual artist explores abstract mixed media compositions using natural materials in a textured vernacular that suggests the natural environment. These unique pieces of art juxtapose her aesthetic sensibility to nature with a pursuit of balance, exposing the fragility and resilience of nature.
