Plein Air Event
May 17, 2014
We invite all artists to join us on Saturday May 17th for a special Plein Air event during the May Show Festival. We will be hosting a reenactment of the 1860 Prescott Militia, complete with people in period costumes, authentic tents and other installations, and fun activities. Try on an authentic 1860's soldier's jacket and chat about local VKH history with the reenactors!
We invite all artists to join us "en plein air" and sketch, photograph or capture the day's exciting visual moments in any medium of your choosing. The event is free to all to participate, but we request that you register for the event by emailing Jessica at firstname.lastname@example.org so we can make sure to have enough morning coffee and muffins for everyone!
9 am - 4pm Make Art Outside:
Artists of all ages and abilities are welcome to create art in any media on the gallery grounds. Bring your own supplies and tools and please dress for the weather. A limited number of easels and drawing horses are available to borrow from the gallery.
Coffee and muffins will be supplied at 9am.
12 - 1 pm An excellent lunch is available for purchase at St. John's Anglican church hall (located beside Higginson Tower). You can also bring your own picnic lunch or purchase lunch at one of Vankleek Hill's restaurants.
Inside the gallery, we will be showing historic artefacts from the Higginson family in the large gallery, and a display of unframed art in the small gallery. We will also have an outdoor display, weather permitting, for the festival weekend only. The Higginson family was a founding family of Vankleek Hill and was responsible for building the nearby historic Higginson Tower, as well as the building that houses the gallery.
